Coffee Roasting Techniques
There are many roasting techniques that you can try out. Whether you like it slow roasting, grilling or even boiling the food in its own juices. However, there are some cooking techniques that are better than the others. And all the methods have their pros and cons. It is up to you to decide which ones you prefer.
What is roasting techniques?
For instance, indirect roasting techniques involve low temperature and medium time roasting for tenderness. In this type of cooking, the food is roasted on a charcoal or gas grill. The difference is that the food is not exposed directly to the open flame. Instead, the heat comes from the indirect heat of the grill. This type of cooking guarantees tenderness and flavors. On the other hand, the direct method entails high temperature, short roasting and the meat will be cooked quickly with a little bit of pink.
Grilling technique is also one of the roasting techniques that you have to choose. This technique is great for those who do not want to expose the food to the open flame. This technique is not only good for seafood but also for meat and veggies. The technique is done over indirect heat and the result is tender and moist roasts.
Another cooking method is baking. This is probably the most popular technique in the world right now. We all love a good bake and roasting techniques can make your baked goodies look like an awesome treat. You can bake your food right in the oven or even roast it over an open flame. The problem is, sometimes the oven or the flame can reach the food. And as we all know, ovens can get very hot.
So, if you do not want to go to the trouble of roasting your food, you can always turn to roasting. Roasting is also one of the more classic cooking techniques. It is the technique where food is roasted whole, raw and sometimes rawer than when it is baked. If you really love roasting, then you might want to learn the technique. Roasting is a very interesting way to make some great tasting food.
Roasted Coffee Beans
I am talking about green coffee beans. When roasted green coffee beans, the bean starts to develop a darker color similar to its natural color when it is fresh. As the bean is roasted, the roasting techniques used result in the bean turning to a lighter shade of brown. The darker brown color of the bean is due to the roasting time and the roasting intensity. If you roast green coffee beans well, then you will be able to make a wonderful espresso with the espresso grounds that you roast. This is called espresso roasting.
In addition to the espresso roasting technique, there is another way of roasting coffee beans. If you are using a gas grinder, then you can use this roasting technique. What you do is you take a coffee bean that is about the same size as your mortar and pestle. Put the roasting process into motion by grinding the bean into your mortar. Now all you have to do is apply pressure on the bean and it will go through the grinder’s paper. In no time at all, you will have a wonderful coffee bean.
Doneness is an important factor when roasting. The higher the doneness of the bean, the more dark and richer your coffee will taste. Keep in mind that as the temperature goes up, doneness also goes down. As the beans reach the inner most part of the roasting temperature, they will be closer to the end of their oneness and start to pop or crack.
