How To Soften The Beef Meat Without Using Meat Tenderizing
How to soften the meat especially the beef?
This is one question that I have been asked many times. The first step in learning how to soften the beef would be to know how it is prepared. Learning how to prepare Chinese food is very simple, just learn few basic cooking methods and you will be on your way to enjoying healthy Chinese food.
1st Method To Soften Beef: Wok Frying
The first method of Chinese food preparation is called wok frying. In this method, you would slice up the beef into thin slices, or stir fry them in a flavorful Chinese vegetable. For example, I usually would slice the steaks into thin strips and then add some bamboo shoots or scallions, saute them, and then add some cornstarch mixture to hold the meat together. This process is often used to make thin cuts of steak.
2nd Method To Soften Beef: Frying
The second method is called frying. In this method, the meat is deep-fried. You could use a piece of flat cut or roast the meat at medium rare. Then, add some soy sauce to help make the meat tender. You could also mix in the sesame oil, chili paste, or honey to give it a tasty golden brown color.
3rd Method To Soften Beef: Pressure Cooker
Another way of learning how to soften the meat of a cow would be to use a pressure cooker. This method is very similar to the wok method. Just cover the lid and set the cooker to medium low. Once the pressure cooker has reached its desired pressure, close the lid and cook the beef for about 2 hours. Once the pressure cooker is full, just open the lid and remove the cooked meat.
4th Method To Soften Beef: Char Kee
Another very simple Chinese method of cooking beef is called char kee. Again, you use a pressure cooker to bring the beef to pressure in order to cook it. Remove the beef from the cooker and allow it to rest for about 10 minutes. Use water to rinse the beef thoroughly.
5th Method To Soften Beef: Beef stock
A fifth method on how to soften the meat of a cow would be to use a beef stock. All you have to do is to add some good quality beef stock (which is free) to about half a cup of hot tap water and bring the mixture to a boil. Don’t add any salt when adding the stock to the water. When the stock has dissolved completely, use a wire-mesh strainer to strain the liquid and put it in a container. Discard the large pieces of scrap meat in the container.
6th Method To Soften Beef: Salt Block
The six way on how to soften the beef meat is to use a salt block and use it as a rub. Start by taking out your dry rub. Add your coarse salt to the rub it all over the cuts in your beef. Use enough pressure to make sure that you rub all over the cuts but not so much that you rub the entire thing. Put this rub on any cuts that you want to make them softer.
So, now that you know how to soften the meat of beef, you can cook your steaks and chops without having to go to the trouble of using expensive meat tenderizing.
